This is what this project is all about: changing the world. Dalla Corte was the first to tell us about the Orang Utan Coffee Project and we thought that it was a wonderful project. A project that makes its members proud. So, when Jordi Marcilla told us about his project to become the first Orang Utan Coffee roaster of Spain, we didn’t flinch and we decided that we wanted to work with him.

Let’s go to the origins. Let’s go to Sumatra, Indonesia. Massive plantations to obtain palm oil are destroying the island’s forests. This deforestation is a threat to the local fauna, like the orangutans, which is an endangered species.

Orang Utan Coffee Project is an international project against deforestation in Sumatra. It helps the local rural communities to get their coffee plantations back, improve their life conditions, and produce a high quality coffee. Thus, recovering the plantations, the habitat of the orangutans is preserved and the species is defended.

Jordi talks quickly, with enthusiasm. He just came back from Sumatra and is very willing to start working on the project. It’s an active project in more than 20 countries, and the coffee is roasted by more than 30 coffee roasters around the world. Now, thanks to Jordi Marcilla and Dibarcafé, the project lands in Spain.

Transparency

After talking about the project, trustfulness and transparency come out as its two key points. The design of the 1kg coffee package is the starting point of our work for this project. The result is a transparent package in which both, the project and the coffee, are explained. Direct, honest.

After the presentation of the project, many coffee shops want to have Orang Utan Coffee in their carte of coffees, or as a complement, making it a little bit more expensive, to contribute with the social cause. These Coffee Shops become official project associates. We work on support for these place: we try to give a strong and distinguished personality to the brand image. People have to love this project and be seduced by its presentation and brand message. The project grows, we work on the half-kilo can and other products. The project will keep on growing for the next months.

We are very happy to work again with someone with passion for coffee and for life such as Jordi, and we are happy to do it in a project to change the world.
